15th May 08 - Under 10s Spring Cup Final

Billinge Celtic v Whiston Celtic

Billinge got of to a nervy start and conceded a scrappy goal within the first 20 seconds.

For the next 49 minutes and 40 seconds they were in total control of this football match.

Aaron played a key role in the centre of midfield spraying passes left and right whilst Brad was giving both the central defenders all kind of problems up front. After 15 minutes Brad S picked up on a mazy run from Aaron , turned and shot a half volley into the bottom corner (1 -1). Tom had a great chance to make it two near to half time but just missed the target. Chris made a great save just before half time which was the only real shot on target by Whiston.

HT 1-1

Callums strong running and pace was too good for Whiston and he as unlucky not to score. Billinge were the only team playing football as Whiston resorted to long balls and long throw ins to try and penetrate our defence. Both Josh and Lawro where outstanding. Jake replaced Callum and tested the Whiston keeper who spilled the ball and from the scramble Brad J latched onto the lose ball to make it 2 -1. Jake was great in his defensive duties - scrambling back when the Whiston striker was through on goal. All 13 boys played their part in what was a great cup win

13th May 08 – Another great Season for the U12’s

Following on from last season when we were crowned Wigan League Division 2 Champions, the now Billinge Juniors U12's squad have had another successful season.

Our aim was to consolidate our position in Division 1 and hopefully achieve a top half finish, however we got off to a flying start and actually topped the division for 3/4 of the season only to finally succumb to an excellent Hindley Juniors 1st team who never dropped a point all season.

Billinge finished runners-up, a healthy 7 points clear of the third placed team, having only lost 4 games out of 22 all season.

Congratulations to all the squad for a magnificent effort and a special mention to Darius D, Sam B-F, and Jake S who have scored a phenomenal 70 goals between them in all competitions so far this season !

Billinge U11’s win League

Billinge Celtic under 11’s have completed a League winning double!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having won the Rainhill league last season they have gone on to win the Wigan and District league by some distance.

The squad having lost only one league game in two seasons go from strength to strength and are already looking forward to adding to their collection of silverware through the summer tournaments they have entered.

Praise goes to Ben Tunstall and Adam Dickinson who have represented St Helens schools this year ( at least six should have played ) but all the same these two boys have done the club proud.

We would like to think that this squad sets the standard for all the age groups below them to emulate or even better

Congratulations to all 13 squad members who represent Billinge Juniors so well both on and off the field. Here is to a great summer and more success next year.

HIGHFIELD GRANGE 5 A SIDE TOURNAMENT

"Billinge Under 13's 2006-7 Won a closely fought final at the Highfield Grange Five a Side Tournament adding to their impressive haul of trophies for the Season by beating an excellent Appley Bridge Team 4-3 in the final....

Frederick with four goals and the team as a whole, without any recognised keeper, did excellently after allowing Appley Bridge back into the game at 3-1 up in normal time.

The squad looks impressive now for next season with a number of additions from Winsfield who have merged with Billinge at Under 14 Level next year and the Club Welcomes Coach Dave Whittaker to its ranks.

Dave managed Winsfields to a creditable 5th Place in the Craven Minor League last Season and a number of thier layers featured in this tournament with all making impressive debuts for the Club also beating Appley Bridge on the way to third spot"...

U16's IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Billinge U16's, had a fantastic night at the Manchester Utd v Lille Champions League match.

Alison Major, one of the players mums, entered a competition on Century FM, the prize being, a junior team from the North West to carry the Champions League Starball Flag onto the pitch before the Manchester Utd v Lille game, along with associated VIP treatment. She did really well and won the prize for the team.

The manager Terry Keane is quoted -

"We had a great night and the lads were a credit to the club. They were each given an official UEFA fleece jog suit and a baseball cap. As we were escorted to our seats behind the goal everyone had their Billinge JFC waterproof jackets on and looked really smart.

About 15 minutes before kick off the boys were taken onto the pitch along with some kids from a local junior school. They all took up position around the starball flag and then the teams came out onto the pitch lining up opposite the du
